Fairfield Hills Receives Two Top Wisconsin Awards
Fairfield Hills Golf Course & Range in Baraboo received the top award for 9-hole Appearance and Maintenance and the top award for Golf Shop Service at the 2016 Golf Course Owners of Wisconsin (GCOW) annual awards banquet. The awards ceremony was held at the Door Creek Golf Course on September 19th. Awards were based on golfer's votes on the gcow.org website during the 2016 golf season. Course owner, Jim Tracy, was on hand to receive the awards. At the awards ceremony, Tracy thanked the association for their recognition. It was the second year in a row that Fairfield Hills has won the top 9-hole award for Golf Course Appearance and Maintenance. It was Fairfield's first award for Golf Shop Service. It was quite an honor to be selected by Wisconsin golfers in a state with so many outstanding golf facilities. Tracy cited his team's hard work and attention to detail as the reason for Fairfield Hills' success.
Fairfield Hills Golf Course & Range is a 9-hole family-friendly par 30 course located on Fox Hill Road in Baraboo. The course is challenging enough for more experienced golfers, but not too difficult for beginners. The facility was purchased by the current owner in 2014, and both the golf course and practice range have experienced tremendous growth over the past three years. According to Manager Patrick Tracy, "more golfers from Baraboo, the surrounding area and tourists discover the course every year, and many become regulars. We took over a terrific facility, and have worked hard to create a truly family-friendly golf facility."
Fairfield Hills remains very optimistic about the course's future. State recognition is a testament that they are indeed headed in the right direction. Tracy cites the team's outstanding job maintaining the facility, and a significant increase in marketing and advertising as reasons for growth. "We are also very fortunate to have a talented Grounds Supervisor and a Manager who is passionate about running the facility." The number of golfers participating in the Monday morning senior league continues to increase as does the number of area companies who receive corporate discounts for their employees. Golfers also seem to be responding very positively to our expanded selection of golf merchandise, food, beverages and craft beers in the club house. In our year-end survey, we found the vast majority of golfers were extremely happy with the changes we've made and the overall experience we're providing."
Fairfield Hills is typically open until around November 1st, but plans to stay open as late as the weather allows this fall. They invite anyone who has not visited the course recently to come check out the facility and see why they were selected the past two years as Wisconsin's top 9-hole golf course based on appearance and maintenance.
