The phrase that gets me excited about a golf course is "elevation changes." When Todd King, Head Golf Professional, invited me out to preview Deer Valley G.C. he didn't have to say too much more after that phrase. He had me shortly after "rolling terrain" and "amazing views."
I booked a tee time a few weeks out and from that moment, I started counting down the days. My excitement grew as I recalled seeing the course numerous times from the freeway and it appeared to be a roller coaster thrill ride.
As I pulled into the parking lot, the hills appeared even bigger from what I witnessed from the freeway. I admit I was giddy before stepping foot on the property. At that moment, I thought I died and went to heaven. What I didn't realize was how much closure I would be after climbing the first hole.
While checking in, I received a four page "Tips from The Proshop" pamphlet that shared local knowledge on how to play each hole. My only advice, grab it and read it twice before playing each hole.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, the following slide show will tell the whole story.

All of his life, Brian has been around the game of golf. As a youngster, Brian competed at all levels in junior and high school golf. Brian had a zero chance for a college golf scholarship, so he worked on the grounds crew at West Bend Country Club to pay for his University of Wisconsin education. In his adult years, his passion for the game collided with his entrepreneurial spirit and in 2004 launched GolfWisconsin.com. In 2007, the idea for a network of local golf directory sites formed and GolfTrips.com was born. Today, the network consists of a site in all 50 states supported by national sites like GolfTrips.com, GolfGuide.com and GolfPackages.com. It is an understatement to say, Brian is passionate about promoting golf and golf travel on a local, regional, national and international level.
On the golf course, Brian is known as a fierce weekend warrior that fluctuates between a 5-9 handicap. With a soft fade, known as "The Weis Slice", and booming 300+ drives, he can blast it out of bounds with the best of them.
