Restoring Greatness: The renovation of The Club at Lac la Belle
By Brian Weis
The Club at Lac La Belle recently shared an update on their course renovation. Milwaukee area and traveling golfers take note.
Meet The New Owners:The Morse Family
As a family, we've spent many hours playing golf together enjoying this great sport we all love. We used to dream about taking our passion for the game even further by owning a course. We made our dream a reality in April 2018 with the purchase of Lac La Belle Golf Course. We are restoring the course like you've never seen to bring you and others a phenomenal golf experience, right here in this quaint Wisconsin village.
We are honored to offer you this opportunity to play one of the oldest courses in the state and the steeped in U.S. Open History.
Clubhouse Remodel
We've also been busy completely renovating the interior of the clubhouse and its surroundings as well. The Pro Shop is now on the opposite end of the building making way for a new restaurant. The new restaurant will be opening out to a brand new undulating 18 hole putting course that wraps the clubhouse.
Quick Restoration by the Numbers
9 fairways raised an additional 3 to 4 feet above the original grade requiring over 150,000 yards of dirt to be moved.
4 holes completely moved off the existing property onto an additional 32 acres purchased to avoid the wettest areas of the land.
2 miles of drainage pipe installed throughout the rerouted course layout in addition to restoring several stream features.
Preview Play
We've had the wettest summer in 125 years last season, however, we're excited to be offering walking only preview play at a date to be announced.

All of his life, Brian has been around the game of golf. As a youngster, Brian competed at all levels in junior and high school golf. Brian had a zero chance for a college golf scholarship, so he worked on the grounds crew at West Bend Country Club to pay for his University of Wisconsin education. In his adult years, his passion for the game collided with his entrepreneurial spirit and in 2004 launched GolfWisconsin.com. In 2007, the idea for a network of local golf directory sites formed and GolfTrips.com was born. Today, the network consists of a site in all 50 states supported by national sites like GolfTrips.com, GolfGuide.com and GolfPackages.com. It is an understatement to say, Brian is passionate about promoting golf and golf travel on a local, regional, national and international level.
On the golf course, Brian is known as a fierce weekend warrior that fluctuates between a 5-9 handicap. With a soft fade, known as "The Weis Slice", and booming 300+ drives, he can blast it out of bounds with the best of them.
