Local and traveling golfers love to research courses before playing them, whether it is to gain some local knowledge or to set an expectation before their upcoming round. Below is an interview with Chip Bromann who shares some valuable insight about the property, its most talked about holes and the signature dish/drink to consume at the 19th hole.
Provide a brief description of the golf course/property, the terrain and best times of the year to play. Pinewood Country Club is "The Most Scenic Golf Course in the Northwoods" of Wisconsin. It sits on 300 acres of land directly between Rhinelander, Tomahawk and Minocqua only a couple of miles off of Highway 51. It has been a family owned and operated golf course since 1962. The 18 hole facility is perfect for all levels of golfers complete with driving range, bar and amenities to host any size golf outing or fundraiser

Share with golfers, your most recent awards and golf course improvements. Each year we change and improve on some aspect of the golf course. It may be rebuilding tees, walls along greens or expanding the playing areas to make your round more enjoyable.
Any tips on playing and reading the greens? The golf course plays from 6,179 yards from the back tees. This par 72 layout should be played more like target golf as choosing your yardages on each hole is important to scoring well. We have many wild grass areas surrounding our fairways with woods and ponds to add to the mix. Our greens are a mix of large and small in size with many undulations so each green and hole is unique all on its own.
Starting on hole #1, are there any tips to get your round off on the right foot? The 1st hole is a 510 yard par 5. Getting your tee shot in the right side of the fairway makes it easier for a 2nd shot to fall right around 100 yards from the green as there is a large hill to the left of the 1st green which can make your approach shot more difficult.
What is your favorite par 5, and how would you recommend playing it? #10 is a 497 yard tough Par 5 as the fairway falls to the left most of the way to the green. Every shot is important in order to make par here. The tee shot should be on the right side of the fairway to get a more level lie for the 2nd shot. The second shot again stay to the right to give yourself a more level place to go into the green on your 3rd shot. Making par here is a great score!
What is your favorite par 3, and how would you recommend playing it? #3 is a 99 yard downhill par 3 that everyone talks about and loves to play. Take an easy swing here to insure you get on the green and most importantly don't hit the house on the other side of the cart path past the green!
In your opinion, what is the hardest hole and do you have any tips on playing it? #15 is a uphill 388 yard par 4 lined with trees on both sides all the way to the green. Advice to playing this hole well... keep it in the short grass!!!! It's the #1 handicap hole on the course.
As a golfer plays the final three holes, is there a chance for salvation? (any tips on closing out the round?) Once you are past the 15 hole, 16 is a downhill short par 4, 17 is a longer par 4 but is more open on the tee shot and the 18th hole, a par 5, the fairway, though uphill, is wide which will help insure your tee shot will be in play. You can breath a sigh of relief once you are past 15.
