Golf Resort Overview: Fairfield Hills Golf Course & Range
An Interview With Jim Tracy, Owner
By Brian Weis
The ultimate golf vacation is staying and playing at a golf resort. Below is an interview with Jim Tracy who shares some valuable information about staying and golfing at Fairfield Hills Golf Course & Range.
Give our readers an overview of the golf resort.
Fairfield Hills Golf Course is a beautiful 9-hole golf course and practice range located in Baraboo, just minutes from the Wisconsin Dells. The course was designed with families in mind. Our 9-hole course is not too difficult for beginners and kids, but challenging enough for more experienced golfers. Most people can play our 1900 yard par 30 course in less than two hours. We offer golfers the area's largest and longest practice range with 34+ stations and 340 yards.
Share with us your room accommodations configurations. What group sizes can accommodate?
Fairfield Hills Golf Course & Range is located next door to Fox Hill RV Park & Campground. Both facilities are owned by the same family, and many Fox Hill guests play the 9-hole course and work on their swing on the practice range. Fox Hill offers many camping options including:
-Beautiful log cabins with AC, kitchenette, and bathroom. Cabins sleep up to six people
-Rustic sleeping cabins with AC, refrigerator and an outside barbecue grill
-Convenient full hook-up (W/E/S) pull-thru RV sites designed to accommodate even the largest RVs and camping units with 20/30/50 amp service.
-Spacious wooded campsites ideal for pop-up campers and tents
Beyond golf what are the top three amenities golfers and non-golfers can enjoy on property?
Guests staying at Fox Hill enjoy the large heated swimming pool, disc golf course and wide variety of campground activities including pedal carts, playground, gagaball, volleyball, giant chess and checkers, hayrides and weekend crafts.
What area tourist attractions might you recommend while in the area?
Fairfield Hills is located just minutes from all the fun and excitement the Wisconsin Dells, and the nature beauty of Devil's Lake and Mirror Lake State Parks. Ho-Chunk Casino is also located less than a mile down the road. One of the things golfers enjoy about Fairfield Hills is that the course can be played in about 2 hours so there still plenty of time to explore all the area attractions in the "Water Park Capital of the World."

All of his life, Brian has been around the game of golf. As a youngster, Brian competed at all levels in junior and high school golf. Brian had a zero chance for a college golf scholarship, so he worked on the grounds crew at West Bend Country Club to pay for his University of Wisconsin education. In his adult years, his passion for the game collided with his entrepreneurial spirit and in 2004 launched GolfWisconsin.com. In 2007, the idea for a network of local golf directory sites formed and GolfTrips.com was born. Today, the network consists of a site in all 50 states supported by national sites like GolfTrips.com, GolfGuide.com and GolfPackages.com. It is an understatement to say, Brian is passionate about promoting golf and golf travel on a local, regional, national and international level.
On the golf course, Brian is known as a fierce weekend warrior that fluctuates between a 5-9 handicap. With a soft fade, known as "The Weis Slice", and booming 300+ drives, he can blast it out of bounds with the best of them.
